Hi everyone, I hope you've been enjoying the learning about preparing multi media artefacts for your eportfolios.
With September approaching you'll be wanting to prepare for teaching your students about eportfolios and creating their artefacts.
What are you preparing for your students?

During Workshop 1 we considered a wide range of purpose for eportfolios and visited Dr Helen Barretts new site called 'Learning About Eportfolios' at: http://electronicportfolios.org/learning/index.html and 'Web 2.0 Class' at: http://electronicportfolios.org/web2/class/index.html.
A number of questions about Helen's work are posed on the Brainstorming Whiteboard. I'll repeat them here for you:
How can we use Web 2.0 tools to create presentation portfolios in formal education for different purposes and audiences? How can we set up an online repository for our digital life? How can we use digital photo archives as part of lifelong photo archives and digital scrapbooks of life experiences? How can we use Web 2.0 tools to document our professional achievements over a career? How can we use online multimedia tools to tell our stories digitally? How can we use our online digital storage to maintain a lifetime of memories that we can use to write our autobiographies or leave a legacy?
Please feel free to add a reply to this post about any one or more of these questions. You may also wish to add content to the Brainstorming whiteboard too.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your responses in here. Some good points raised: * scope - sharing resources globally * flexibility - catering for varying needs * encouraging collation of artefacts * storing in a suitable repository
I have posted a new link in the Research page - a simple 1 minute video can be viewed from http://www.articulate.com/rapid-elearning/what-everybody-ought-to-know-about-instructional-design/
This may have relevance for you and your students.

This is a quote from the eportfolio work of Dr Helen Barrett. Helen says:
I believe that all portfolios need to include three forms of reflection, focusing on the past, present, and future. These questions are: - What? (the artifacts that I have collected from the past) - So What? (what these artifacts show about my learning at the present time) - Now What? (my future learning goals)
What kind of reflection will you include in your eportfolios?

I don't have any ideas yet. I just wanted to start this thread. I am sure we will all have ideas as time goes on and we get to play and explore eportfolio.

Hi Kevin, It can be a bit tricky digging into a discussion forum thread. Here's the direct link to the conversation where you'll find Ray Tolley's comments: http://www.groups.edna.edu.au/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=26897
Ray has also been actively adding information to another shared wikispace - you may find this one easier to read: http://personal-eportfolios.wikispaces.com/The_UK_Experience

Hi Denika, I think you're doing just fine. I like the photos you've uploaded here about NISTC they are valid and relevant to your work. They can stay there! However, if you wish to delete any photo from the gallery follow these steps: 1. select the photo gallery and click the image you wish to remove 2. click on the more tools tab and select delete photo 3. follow the onscreen prompts.
Hope this helps. Carole

Hi Helen, Your post worked and I'm the first to reply. Its great to just send out a post like this and see what comes back. To answer your question - I think I'm going okay, but I probably need you to tell me if the instructions I provide are clear for you. Sometimes I need some feedback too. Carole

Congratulations to members of the team who have created their own pages so far: Troy, Paul and Sherren. We're off to a good start. Now's the time to consolidate your learning about sharing in this wiki. Please add a reply here to outline how you would like to make the best use of your page.
I'm using mine to show some examples of artefacts and to link out to by existing blog for the reflections on this project.

Hi Sherren, You're photo is uploaded and displayed among the top contributors over there on the left navigation bar. Well done! What part of the process did you find confusing? This is good learning though - your students may feel exactly the same initially. Thanks for creating your page I'll check that out now. CC

I look forward to meeting you all on June 17th at our induction meeting: e-portfolio: Artefacts of the Journey. In the mean time I will introduce myself to you briefly and hope that you will do the same. (to do that please select the reply button and type in your text in the message box).
I am an elearning consultant living in Baranduda with close ties to the Wodonga TAFE and NE Victorian community centres. I work from home and you can reach me via email, phone, Skype, txt message or snail mail. During my time in mentoring you through the journey I will invite you to join me in using a few different types of communication strategies, designed to make our connections easy and timely.
Let's start by sharing 3 things about yourself, your project and your expectations in this project. Here's mine:
I am definitely a 'webhead' - always online; my role in the project is to guide you in the planning and preparation of your eportfolio artefacts and to collaborate with you as you design your students' approach to using eportfolios.
Talk to you soon. (Note: if you want to make sure that you'll be notified when replies are made in this forum, click the 'Watch this thread' box below.

Hey Jon, great to have you on board for our journey together. The concept of planning and creating some artefacts as interactive marketing tools for your course or department is an ideal 'vehicle' for our journey. Eportfolios are hot topics in VET this year and you'll find a new archived Live Blog about the recent National Eportfolio Symposium, in the Live Blogs page here in this wiki.
